Dead Island 2 went gold and it's coming out a week early. You’ll be able to get a start on cracking some zombie skulls with all manner of makeshift melee weaponry ( an activity we found very fun when we played it) sooner than expected. Dead Island 2 is definitely still a thing, at least in the sense that it hasnt been formally cancelled by Embracer or Deep Silver: It appears in Embracers Q3 report as an 'announced release. On top of that bit of good news though, the folks at Deep Silver Dambuster Studios have announced that they’re dropping the game early. They’ve seemingly had enough of pushing the game back bit by bit, and instead they’re pulling it forward a week from its original release date of April 28th to now April 21st. That means the game is essentially “finished” barring any last-minute changes being rolled into a day one update, ready to be pressed to discs and beamed up through the heavens to be stored on servers for digital storefronts everywhere. After years of delays, developer changes, global pandemics and whatever else could go wrong in game development (probably), Dead Island 2 has finally gone gold.
